December 2014
LRCH’s Semester Exam schedule is printed on the attached December
calendar. All students will be dismissed at 1:00 pm during the week of semester exams. The
cafeteria will serve lunch from 1:00-1:30 pm. Students with their own transportation may leave
the building after their second exam. Buses will leave at 1:30 pm. Because of DAYTIME
CURFEW, students are not allowed to be at the malls and other public places during the
school day. Students may not visit other schools without the permission of the building
administrator. Please discuss the importance of semester exams with your child. The final
exam is weighted 20% of your child’s semester grade. Only semester grades are recorded
on your child’s official transcript, so it is VERY important that students study hard and
perform well. We had a meeting on November 18, 2014 with all freshmen to explain the
semester exam process. Report Cards will be distributed to students on Tuesday, January
20, 2015.
AIP Literacy Remediation packets have been distributed to students. The packets
included a letter to parents, an instruction page, and your child's AIP document that you
are asked to sign and return to Ms. Bankston. Students are able to work on the online
assignment from home and should complete Unit 1 to satisfy graduation requirements.
If your child has not received a packet or if you have questions and/or concerns, please
contact Ms. Brenda Bankston, Literacy Coach by email or
call 447-1603. Parental participation in the AIP remediation process for Literacy is
Academic Improvement Plan (AIP) Remediation Program for Biology End-ofCourse Exams – Parents, if you received a letter regarding your child’s AIP, your child
MUST complete remediation in order to receive credit for the Biology course, regardless
of the grade they received for the course. Letters were mailed during registration and
packets were sent home during the first nine weeks of school. Seniors who fail to
complete their AIP will not receive a diploma. Parents of seniors may contact Mrs.
Melissa Donham ( to inquire if the student has completed the
process. For other inquiries, please contact Beth Davis at 447-1413.
