Day 1 ~ Leaving on a Jet Plane
You board your flight bound for Europe today!
Day 2 ~ Prague, Czech Republic
You’ll arrive in Prague today and be assisted with your transfer to your
hotel. The balance of the day will be at your leisure to explore this
beautiful city! Dinner is on your own in one of the area’s wonderful local

Day 3 ~ Explore Prague
Today is yours to explore the Prague you want to see! From the
thousand-year-old Hradcany Castle to beautiful St. Vitus Cathedral,
you’ll find getting around easy and the sights a delight! Don’t miss iconic
Charles Bridge where King Charles IV personally laid the first
foundation stone in 1357! And be sure to see Old Town Hall with it’s
spectacular astronomical clock installed in 1410 and running ever since.
As you stroll along the banks of the Vlatava River, you’ll find plenty of
quaint shops with local handicrafts and delightful cafes and restaurants!
As you explore Prague this evening, you’ll notice the unique system used
to illuminate monuments. It starts with the oldest monument to the
youngest in 3 minute intervals starting at dusk and completing just
before midnight!
Overnight: Prague
Day 4 ~ Prague to Vilshofen, Germany
You’ll check out of your Prague hotel this morning and travel through
the beautiful Bavarian countryside bound for the charming 1,200-yearold town of Vilshofen. Along the way, stop in Regensburg for a guided
walking tour of one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities. On
arrival in Vilshofen, you’ll board your luxurious ship, the AmaPrima to
begin your Danube River cruise! Later this afternoon, join your fellow
passengers at a private “Oktoberfest” celebration in Vilshofen, with
traditional beers and Bavarian folk music and dancing. After a rousing
afternoon, return to the ship to unpack and relax before enjoying a
festive Welcome Dinner.
Day 5 ~ Vilshofen to Passau, Germany
This morning you’ll have time to explore Vilshofen’s beautiful old town
on your own before cruising to Passau. On arrival this afternoon you’ll
enjoy a walking tour of this 2,000-year-old city, noted for its Gothic and
Italian Baroque architecture, cobblestoned streets, and St. Stephan’s
Cathedral, home to one of the world’s largest pipe organs.
Day 6 ~Linz to Gmunden, Austria
The AmaPrima arrives in Linz this morning for a guided walking tour of
Austria’s second largest city known for its vibrant art and music scene.
Then, choose from three other excursions. The first is visit to the
Austrian Lake District, the scenic Salzkammergut region. The second
option is an excursion to the Czech town of Cesky Krumlov, a
wonderfully preserved medieval town nestled in the hills just over the
Austrian-Czech border. The third choice is an excursion to Salzburg,
Mozart’s birthplace, where you will take a walking tour of the historic
center made famous by the “Sound of Music.” Enjoy free time on your
own before returning to the ship.
Day 7 ~ Melk to Krems, Austria
You’ll enjoy a scenic cruise through the narrow Strudengau this morning
en route to Melk. On arrival, a guided tour will take you to Melk’s
magnificent Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe’s largest Baroque
monasteries and the inspiration for the novel The Name of the Rose.
You’ll re-board the AmaPrima and continue cruising through the
beautiful Wachau Valley to Krems where you will take a motor coach
ride to Dürnstein. On your walking tour of this picturesque old town,
you’ll see the magnificent blue façade of the local abbey church and the
ruins of a castle where Richard the Lionheart was once imprisoned.
Tonight, after dinner on board, enjoy a wine tasting at a winery in
Day 8 ~ Vienna, Austria
This morning you wake up in Vienna, the city of music! After breakfast,
enjoy a city tour of Vienna, where you will see the famous Opera House,
the Ringstrasse, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The afternoon is free to
stroll through the historic city center and enjoy this city of Mozart,
Beethoven, Strauss and Brahms! The Viennese love Gemütlichkeit
(relaxation) so you might just choose to indulge in a Sacher Torte and a
Brauner (espresso with milk) as you explore! ***An optional Mozart and
Strauss concert wi! offered by AmaWaterways this evening. The AmaPrima
remains moored in Vienna overnight for those who might want to enjoy
an evening stroll along the Danube!
Day 9 ~ Bratislava, Slovakia
Enjoy a scenic morning cruise to Bratislava where you will set out on a
walking tour that includes the Old Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and St.
Martin’s Cathedral. With one of the smallest historical centers, the
charm of Bratislava is undeniable with cobblestoned streets, pedestrian
plazas and pastel 18th-century rococo buildings. As an alternative, you
might want to take a “Communist” tour that includes such architectural
landmarks as the Radio Building, Liberty Square and Soviet War
Memorial. Prior to the fall of communism in 1989, Slovakia and the
Czech Republic formed the former Czechoslovakia and you’ll hear about
its history. After your tours, you’ll have the remainder of your day free to
enjoy Bratislava on your own.
Day 10 ~ Budapest, Hungary
This morning, your sightseeing tour takes you to the historic Buda
Castle, which offers a splendid view of the river and the twin cities of
Buda and Pest. Your tour also features the Fisherman’s Bastion, Royal
Palace, St. Stephen’s Basilica, and Heroes’ Square. After dinner, the ship
will sail a special “Illuminations Cruise” past the beautifully illuminated
river front of Budapest.
Day 11 ~ Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
Your cruise comes to an end today. After disembarkation, you’ll proceed
to the airport for your flight home. Memories of Prague and your
Danube Cruise will last a lifetime!
