Latex Products: These are non-hazardous, water-based paints that should be dried out and disposed of in the garbage. To dry out, remove lid and add an absorbent material, such as cat litter or clay speedy dry, to speed the drying process. Once the material is hard and not in liquid form, throw the can into the garbage with the lid off. Grout, Spackle, and Joint Compound: Dispose in garbage. Empty Containers: Once a material has been used up, put the empty container into the garbage. Highly Reactive or Unstable Materials: Items such as benzoyl peroxide, gunpowder, chlorine (wet or gaseous), dioxane, any of the “ethers,” ethyl nitrate, any of the “nitro” compounds, phosphorous, picric acid, potassium perchlorate, pyridine, potassium and/or sodium metals, uranium/uranyl compounds, old chemistry sets, etc., call (973) 829-8006 for approval prior to transporting any of these materials. Unknown Materials: If unlabeled or unidentifiable, please call (973) 829-8006 for authorization to bring the material to the MCMUA HHW Disposal Program. DIRECTIONS: The Morris County Public Safety Training Academy From the North: Take I-287 south to Exit 36 (Lafayette Ave/Ridgedale Ave). Follow signs to Ridgedale Ave, at the traffic light at the bottom of the ramp make a right onto Ridgedale Ave. Take Ridgedale Ave north for ¾ of a mile to East Hanover Ave (there is a gas station at the intersection). Make a left onto East Hanover Ave, take it four (4) miles (it turns into West Hanover Avenue) to the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy which is on your right as you go up the hill. Make a right turn into the parking lot. From the South: Take I-287 north to Exit 36B (Lafayette Ave). Move into the right lane of the exit ramp and bear right onto Ridgedale Ave. Take Ridgedale Ave north for just under one (1) mile to East Hanover Ave (there is a gas station at the intersection). Make a left onto East Hanover Ave and take it four (4) miles (it turns into West Hanover Avenue) to the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy which is on your right as you go up the hill. Make a right turn into the parking lot. Jefferson Township DPW Complex/Recycling Center From the Pequannock, Butler, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park Areas: Take Route 23 North to Oak Ridge Road. Follow to the first traffic light and turn right. Go to the blinking light and turn left onto Schoolhouse Road. Take Schoolhouse Road to the end and turn right. Follow to Weldon Road and turn left. The municipal building is approximately ½ mile on the right. Go past the entrance and make the next right onto Sparta Mountain Road. The DPW Complex/Recycling Center is on the right. From the East: Take Route 80 West to Route 15 North to Weldon Road. Stay on Weldon Road approximately six (6) miles. Make the first left past Jefferson High School (Sparta Mountain Road). The DPW Complex/Recycling Center is on the right. From the West: Take Route 80 East to the Wharton exit. Go through the first traffic light and bear right onto Route 15 North. Follow to Weldon Road. Stay on Weldon Road approximately six (6) miles. Make the first left past Jefferson High School (Sparta Mountain Road). The DPW Complex/Recycling Center is on right.
