CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM THE PTA

It is a pleasure to report a
term of lively events with a
good mix of regular and new
faces, and very successful
fundraising generating
£8,013 so far. We hope to
raise £9,500 by the end of
this term with all the raffle
returns. For 2014/15 we are
aiming to raise £20,000
towards refurbishing the
music teaching rooms,
£5000 of additional lighting
for the Foundation Hall, £750
for the student reward
scheme and £2,000 of
departmental extra curricular
requests.
I would particularly like to
thank Gaynor Bull and the
Art and Craft Fair Committee
for organising a fantastic
event in November. The Art
and Craft Fair raised £4,700
– which is an amazing result.

Thank you to everyone who has helped or supported the PTA this
term. I look forward to seeing you at our events planned for the
Spring Term – Quiz Night – Saturday 7th March – but be quick,
tables are selling fast – the application form is on page 4.
Don’t miss out on tickets for The Pamper Evening on Thursday 19th
March, the ticket request form will be in January PTA
newsletter. See details regarding Paintballing on Sunday 22nd
March on page 3.

AGS 20TH ART & CRAFT FAIR
Once again the Art & Craft Fair proved a
popular and profitable event. Through a
great team effort, a total of £4700 was
raised for the school, which is a
fantastic start to our target of £28,000 this
year to refurbish the music teaching rooms,
additional lighting for the Foundation Hall
and fund the student rewards scheme and
departmental requests for equipment and
extra-curricular clubs.
We welcomed 90 art and craft exhibitors
and over 600 parents, staff, students, Old
Aylesburians and members of the public
across the two day fair. Thank you to everyone who supported the event, through helping man
desks, set up and clear away, provide catering
and raffle donations, attending the fair and, last
but not least, spending money!
The Preview evening was a particular success
with 300 guests, who were treated to delicious
canapés (kindly donated by parents and served
by student waiters) and drinks sponsored by
Twist @ The Green Dragon in Haddenham.
The piano accompaniment (at both the preview
evening and the main fair), added a lovely
ambience to the event and was much enjoyed
and commented on by all our guests.
Feedback
from
parents,
artists and
visitors,
including Michael Rand, Chair AVDC, was that the art
work and crafts were of an exceptionally high quality and
the event was both professionally run and very enjoyable.

with some stunning pieces
The team are already planning the next Art & Craft Fair to
ensure it builds on this years’ success. If you would like to

The PTA will continue to support extra curricular requests on an annual basis, funds

We would be grateful if all monies and unsold tickets/books could be returned to the school by
Thursday 11th December. The Draw will take place on Friday 12th December.
Any late returns will be treated as a donation.
This year's annual paintball day is at Sabotage Paintball near Swanbourne, on the 22nd March 2015( see
www.sabotage-paintball.co.uk/ for details). The price is £35 for a full day. The event is open to all year
groups. Non-AGS guests can participate as long as they are in Year 7 or older.
