COMMANDER’S REPORT:
At the Department Convention in McAllen in July, Lynn
Sparks was elected as the Dept. Commander for 2014-15.
The POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony on Sept. 19th will
be over by the time this is received. The upcoming
Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be held on Nov. 11th, starting
at 11:00 AM. It will be at Central Park, downtown Seguin,
this year with a Parade from College and Austin Streets to
Central Park. The Christmas Party will be on Dec. 13th and
there is a signup sheet at the Post Lounge. It will start at
5:00 PM. It is open to all Legionnaires, Auxiliary members,
Sal members and ALR members. Please sign up so we have
a count for the catering. We will have “Pot Luck” Members
Social/ New Years Eve Party at the Post Lounge on
Wednesday evening, Dec. 31st. If you haven’t already done
so, please send in your 2015 Membership dues. The 2014year ends on Dec 31st.

1st VICE COMMANDERS REPORT The membership renewals have come in well to start the
2015 membership year. We are over 60% of our 2015 goal
so renew now.

Oct. 31st – Halloween- wear your costumes
Nov. 11th- Snacks after the Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the
Hall. Dec. 13th Legion Christmas Party, Dec. 31st Lounge
open for your enjoyment.
2nd VICE COMMANDERS REPORT
The High School Oratorical Contest will be held on
Sunday, Dec.14th at the Post. If you know of anyone who
would like to be a contest judge, please let me know.
Addionally, I am requesting volunteers to assist me with the

SONS OF THE LEGION:
The SAL is starting a Shuffleboard/ Pool Tournament on
the 3rd Wednesday of each month, starting on Oct. 15th, at
about 6:30 PM. It is open to all Legion Family members.
Please come and join us for an evening of fun. Bring a
snack/ side dish for everyone to enjoy.

CHAPLAINS REPORT:
We are commemorating the service of veterans of all wars
on Nov. 11th. We remember how men and women set aside
their civilian pursuit to serve their nations cause, defending
the freedom of mankind and preserving our precious
American heritage.

ADJUTANT:
NOTICE!! Our Constitution and Bylaws require a
written notice to all members when a change to the
Constitution and Bylaws is proposed. The change
proposed is to Article XI- Programs. The change is to
add sections 4, 5, 6, and 7. In simple language this
change will allow the formation of a “American
Legion Riders Chapter and establish rules to govern
this group. We will vote on this change at the
November meeting. This is the written notice!!
Robert Jackson
House and Building Chairman, Bill Norton is asking
for helpers to work on 2 items needing attention at the
Hall. He would like to have volunteers for a Saturday
now that the weather is cooler to (1) clean and paint
the front entrance walkway and (2) remove weeds and
general clean-up of the Parking lot. Call 830-433-4121
to let Bill know when will be the best day for the work
to get done.

POPPY DAYS: Poppy days in Seguin are
scheduled for November 7th & 8th, 2014.
We will be at Wal-Mart, Arlan’s & Pic & Pac
#8 on Friday Nov 7th and 8th. The signup
sheet is at the Post home. Bee Neumann
and Bobbie Wesch are co-chairs this year
and if you could volunteer some of your
time for our veterans, I know they would
greatly appreciate it.
BECAUSE WE CARE: Our deepest
sympathy goes to the families of deceased
members Eva Nell Finch, Annie Boecker,
Evelyn Engelke, Doris Engelke, Marguerite
Donsbach, Mary Ann Boos, and Rosalia
Zuehl on their loss. Please keep all those
who are ill in your prayers.
BINGO: Friday and Sunday bingo teams
could use some extra help. Contact Bee
Neumamn (379-2772) if you would like to
help in the kitchen as a worker or as a
substitute on Friday or Sunday nights.
MEMBERSHIP: Fran Altherr reports we
are in a new membership year. 2015
membership dues are $25.00 for Senior
members, $5.00 for Junior members. Dues
can be mailed to ALA Unit 245, P.O. Box
971, Seguin, Texas 78156. Please let
Fran know of any address or phone
changes so you will receive your newsletter
or other auxiliary mail.
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS: A special
welcome to new members Sharon Boos,
Rebecca A. Pantermuehl and Stephanie
S. Parker. We are happy to have you with
us!
LEGION CHRISTMAS PARTY:
Our
Legion Christmas Party is scheduled for
December 13th.
Please bring a small
stuffed animal to donate to Pedi-pals at
GRMC.
BLUE STAR BANNERS: If you have
children or grandchildren currently serving
in our Armed Forces, please contact me at
830-303-9670 so they may be honored and
their families presented with a Blue Star
Banner to display in their home. We will be
doing this at the Legion Birthday Party in
March.

December! Celebrate, and take time to
smell the roses.
