Speaker: Richard Lamm, Former Governor, State of Colorado
Program Overview: Despite recent moderation of health care costs, powerful forces
suggest a continued double digit rise in health care costs. How do we fit infinite needs
into finite resources? What organizational changes and what new limits will have to
be placed on our health delivery system. How can America gets its health care costs
more in line with other industrial nations? Governor Lamm will discuss these issues
so you have a better appreciation of the forces inextricably pushing future health care
costs and some possible solutions.

Says about Health Care Coverage and Access in Colorado”
Speaker: Jeff Bontrager, Director of Research on Coverage and Access,

Program Overview: New coverage options implemented under the Affordable Care Act
made 2014 a pivotal year for health insurance in Colorado. What do we know about
initial impacts on uninsured Coloradans? What do the latest data tell us? This session
uses images and data to explore the ACA’s impact on Colorado. After attending this

coverage in Colorado.
■■ Describe how Colorado compares with other states and the nation on coverage

Program Overview: In 2014, CCMU tracked the implementation of health reform in four
sentinel communities in Colorado – Yuma County, Montrose County, Summit County
and Colorado Springs, through our Health is Local project. This session will share the
highlights from what we learned during this year of change. After attending this session
you will be able to:
■■ Describe the experiences of health reform in four, representative, Colorado communities
■■ Understand the specific impacts of reform on the medically underserved and
health care providers in these communities.

Update”
Speakers: Macia Benshoof, Chief Strategy and Sales Officer, Connect
for Health Colorado, Denver, CO
Program Overview: Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s new health insurance
marketplace, is among the most successful state-run marketplaces in the country.
Chief Strategy and Sales Officer Marcia Benshoof will present an overview of the 2014
enrollment experience, as well as what’s new for this year’s open enrollment period.
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to discuss and educate friends
and peers on the basics of Colorado’s health insurance marketplace.

Program Overview: Since the inception of the ACA, Colorado has opted to expand the
Medicaid program. The speakers will address the impact of this expansion on both
providers and the uninsured population.
